Update

The Southern New York Racing Association (remember Danbury was in Connecticut!) crowned their first Danbury Racearena champion in 1950. The track was a tight 1/3-mile asphalt oval. Lesser known drivers like Billy Boo, Bones Stevens and Danny Gaudiosi were feature winners at the track. Pace lap at the Danbury Racearena. As late as 1971, when these photos were taken, the Southern New York Racing Association (SNYRA) sanctioned Saturday night racing at the Danbury Racearena (aka Danbury State Fair) and another nearby track located in southern New York state. An older brother, Louis, who had been a popular stock car driver before losing a hand in a wreck at the old Danbury Racearena in 1960, was already working for the city.
